Are you thinking of switching to a
broadband internet service? If so then better get a DSL modem. The function of the modem is to separate your Internet connection from a primary connection such as your phone or TV line.
This way, the internet data goes directly to your computer which makes
internet surfing twice as fast as cable internet or dial-up or maybe faster. In addition to the modem, you can also connect an internet router so that you can share your internet connection to other computers in your home.
Some modems include installation kits with them. But if you're very lucky your internet service provider may also provide you with a modem free of charge and install them for free too. Otherwise, you would have to install it yourself.
Be sure that the primary components of the
installation kit are complete. There should be a modem, a special telephone line cord, an Ethernet cable, special micro filters, and a two-outlet modular adapter. When you have them all ready, you're all set to start installing. Just don't forget your installation guide to make installation dead easy.
