The Federal Communications Commission has been ironing the kinks of DSL connection. Recently, reports said that FCC will be controlling the price of the wireless Internet network to make sure that consumers will be able to pay the right amount for the services that the providers offer. Aside from that, the said commission is also tasked to make sure that companies won't share their lines with their rivals to grab more consumers with their discounted offers.
I say that the fucking computer commission shouldn't have bothered doing such unproductive duties. As I can see, there's actually no need to regulate the price of DSL services because they are so affordable already. Your DSL bill is just worth a toilet paper, to be precise. And hell, with the racket broadband's doing, providers of DSL will surely make offers that will be appealing to their customers to grab hold of their loyalty. You know, even Internet connection providers must know the marketing law to be able to survive the risky business.
It's quite a shame why intellectual people are wasting their time controlling the price of the shitty connection. It would be better if they use all their efforts in keeping the price of the world's oil low. That endeavor will make more people damn happier.

It is really overwhelming how DSL can work its magic in terms of gaining followers all over the world. And it's not just an understatement, I can prove it to you right now. According to a study conducted by a research firm, Point Topic, the number of DSL subscribers around the world has reached to over 150 million as of March 31, 2006. That means that from the previous year, the number of DSL subscribers has grown to as high as 43 million or 39 percent.
The reports in addition said that China has the biggest share at 30 million subscribers. While the United States follows at the second spot with over 22 million subscribers. The countries of Japan, Germany and France follow, each having more than 10 million subscribers.
What do these figures tell us? The rising demand of consumers for fast and reliable Internet connection, coupled with the onslaught of digital entertainment, has all made significant contributions to why most consumers rely on DSL or digital subscriber line as a form of Broadband service. DSL has become and continues to be the choice of most households and businesses which need information and data services delivered through the Web.

Due to the boom of the broadband internet, the days of dial-up internet access may soon be over, this claim was according to a research made by a firm called IDC. In addition, the study also concluded that broadband subscriptions all over the world will grow in volume in the next four years to reach 400 million users in 2010. The factors seen to affect such tremendous growth are lower prices, improved options and growth in the number of devices in the market.
Amy Harris Lind, analyst for IDC also said that 3 out of four households connections will be into broadband as compared to dial-up by the year 2010. Broadband is the preferred choice by consumers todays primarily because of its capability to download webpages faster, in addition it also allows the transfer of files at speeds unimaginable with dial-up.
With the said growth in the number of broadband users, the revenue of companies engaged in the business could also double up. IDC said that the global revenue from these services could reach up to 122.4 billion US dollars in 2010. DSL is still the leading form of broadband connection accounting for more than half of broadband connections in the world.
High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) or 3G Technology enables data transfer rates of up to 1.4 Megabits per second with peaks of up to 1.8 Megabits per second compared to 384 Kilobits previously used for 3G. You can browse the web on your laptop through an HSDP-data card which is 25 times faster than the ordinary dial-up internet connection. With this kind of set-up, mobile phone users can surf all they want, download their favorite songs, movies, and videos right in their laptop. Users can also send and receive emails anywhere they are. Browsing the Internet has never been this convenient with HSDPA.
This new application is a welcome sight for mobile phone users, in addition to other exciting 3G features such as video calling, video sharing, and limited multimedia streaming. Video calling allows parties to see each other while they are talking on the phone. Video sharing, on the other hand, allows users to capture videos and send them to others. This overwhelming breakthrough is now available in Japan through NTT DoCoMo, CSL of Hong Kong, USA's Cingular Wireless, Wataniya Telecoms in Kuwait, and the Philippines through Globe and Smart. Most HSDPA networks are located in Europe, while other areas of the world are eagerly anticipating the arrival of this technology.

Bulldog Broadband, one of the leading broadband service providers in the UK, is to be abdicated by its parent company; Cable & Wireless. This will result in the reduction of 150 jobs. Job positions in the sales and marketing department will be affected. Despite this, C & W contemplates on selling wholesale internet access to other providers scheduled this July. The said company will continue as a retail brand for the provider's existing customers.
According to the executive director of C&W UK, John Pluthero, a wholesale approach is the best to deal with the company's return on investment from Bulldog, which it acquired in 2004 for £18 million. And that's the reason why it finally turned its back to retailing. Since this acquisition, company sales increased to 3 %. However, Bulldog also suffered an operating loss of £120 million from last year. Due to rising competition, especially with the presence of other big players such as Orange and Carphone Warehouse, Bulldog is trying hard to keep up. Its parent company C & W, which is Britain's number two network operator after the BT Group, has given a warning that it will cut over 3,000 jobs in the UK in the next five years.

To remain competitive in today's world, we all need a world-class broadband service and to achieve this we need a sufficient bandwidth to keep up. Bandwidth is a measure of frequency range which is commonly used term in many fields like communications and signal processing. In the area of DSL and broadband internet, sufficient bandwidth means fast and reliable internet connection.
While a world-class broadband means affordable, high-speed internet which we need nowadays, other similar applications like WiFi, 3G, and WIMAX should also go hand in hand with broadband. In most highly-developed countries, service providers offer a bundled package of these services at very reasonable prices. What is keeping this trend is competition among the companies involved. However, in smaller, less developed countries, it seems that these remain to be far from sight.
It is notable that most governments of different countries have recognized the increasing need on high-speed internet access for their citizens to keep up with their competitive environment. One of which is the government of Bangladesh. Although, the country is trying to keep up economically, the government has devised a 'broadband policy' to assure that they are not left out in the information superhighway.

Vodafone has changed product tactics by shifting to DSL service. Although, the brand is usually associated with mobile phone service, it is now venturing into the world of PCs with its new offering. Vodafone Group, based in Berkshire, England, had announced this matter on Tuesday.
The first step of the entire scheme is to offer what Vodafone calls Mobile Plus. The company expects to produce 10% of its revenues from this service in the coming 3-4 years. The idea behind it is similar to what is offered in Germany – the Zuhause (“At Home”) by Vodafone. I'm not really that informed in the details with what is being offered in Germany, but apparently, you can avail of the service from your landline phone at home.
The second stage is where DSL comes in. The company can offer DSL to those who are already subscribed to Mobile Plus which comes in a bundled price. Or, it can also offer DSL to customers from other landline operators. Along with the DSL and wireless service, Vodafone is also planning to provide other exciting options such as instant messaging, voicemail, address books as well as radio streaming that can be both available on mobile phones and PCs.

3G is getting a lot of attention from the media these days. It is not unusual to see people sporting the latest 3G handsets that are equipped with the latest offerings from telecom subscription companies. Sure we're so familiar with how it works, we know it like the back of our hands. But have you heard of a 3G modem lately? I know how fast the internet can be nowadays but a 3G modem? Don't you think we're expecting too much in terms of speed?
But case in point, these high-end modems were developed earlier than WiFi and broadband internet. But if there's a cheaper alternative, then I will gladly go for that. These modems sell for about $ 200 USD, very far from the regular modems used in the household. I don't see any reason you should splurge this amount on a modem that claims to beat ordinary modems. In addition, some PCs have a built-in modem in them for added convenience so there's no need to buy a separate one. In the mean time let's stick to our traditional modems please.

Alvarion is considered one of the leaders in the broadband industry providing over 130 countries with the much needed technology and solutions. To date, Alvarion has deployed more than 2 million broadband network units here and abroad. Recently, Alavarion has announced its deployment of a broadband facility in the Chicago area. Six communities in Chicago are expected to benefit from this project. The mobile network is established through the BreezeACCESS 900 that aids in fixed or mobile applications for public safety.
The network's expected to help in curbing or preventing crime and the occurrence of fires. It makes use of 14 base stations that are scattered all over the area, connected with mobile terminals that were connected in police cars and fire vehicles to alert them of any impending danger. The areas in the network includes North Riverside, Hodgkins, Riverside, Countryside, McCook, Lyons and also the Fire District of Pleasentview.
The world is changing constantly and so is technology. If technology means that we have to sacrifice a little bit of our privacy to make us safer and far from harm, then by all means we should embrace it.

Crazy are the people who do not know that the hottest commodities on the internet today are downloads (next to online shopping of course). From the latest Green Day song to the hottest Fox TV series, the computer has become a new niche for the day's best downloads. Everyone is hopping into the download roller coaster but can your internet keep up?
Most DSL providers, even the ones that claim they can give you lightning speed internet access, have confessed that they are not capable of keeping step with high-definition programming. Programs that are usually downloaded by demanding customers to fill the void for entertainment . In addition, this can be bad for the internet because it was designed at a time when people relied on piecemeal information.
But these days we're getting pretty lucky to watch our desired TV shows via live streaming for hours. That certainly harms the Internet according to these ISPs. Another possible problem is overcrowding or internet traffic and of course oversubscription. If each and every subscriber use the internet at the same time to watch live feeds of news or NBA games, then the internet could just shatter into pieces. Although the internet has gained the reputation of being a reliable consumer and business tool, there will come a time when it can no longer hold as much as it does now.

It is a big question that despite the big marketing strategies made by DSL providers, cable still leads the pack in the Internet race as far as Canadian residential customers are concerned. The Canadian cable operators Rogers Communications Incorporated, Cogeco Incorporated and Vidéotron Ltée have improved on their Internet speeds. As a matter of fact, Vidéotronnow has the fastest Internet connection at a speed of 16MBPS. This fast speed allows Internet users to download 3 songs from the Internet in just 10 seconds.
This trend among cable Internet providers was prompted by the scenario that most Internet users spend a lot of time online than they used to using applications that can consume bandwidth. They watch movies and even TV shows through the web, download hundreds of songs, and even call online. That's why service providers have doubled on their speed capacity. Even amidst these improvements, cable and broadband Internet service are still on a tight pace with each other. In the Internet industry, it only goes to show that speed is everything, although it is a good sign that many companies are keeping up with a more reliable Internet connection.

Although some certified computer addicts admittedly go gaga over broadband Internet, there are still business and personal users who look at the brighter side of dial-up service. Most business wanderlust and small and medium business employees are still inclined to DSL. Residences that are aloof from pivotal offices or with naive cable systems do enjoy its service.
Despite the growing broadband mania, many Internet users are unable to have access on it, geographically, financially and technologically. This simply means that broadband still hasn't dampen nor shroud the ministration that DSL gives. As a matter of fact, I do think that digital subscriber line is here to stay, and that isn't going to change soon.
The current standard speed of dial-up is 56k bps which maybe quite slow to download huge audio files, procure complicated video images, and hold cutting-edge e-commerce. Some say that unless we use access to global high speed, the evolution of the Internet to its maximum potential and highest powers will never be realized and its aid in the growth of the economy might perish. But I think otherwise. Broadband Internet makes your PC weak from attacks of hackers. Even if you think its safe having a firewall installed, spyware and malware files can still sneak into your system and ruin your network. DSL might make your computing work slower but at least you still have the assurance that your documents are still safe when you switch your PC first thing in the morning.

There's a surge in the number of DSL and broadband users worldwide, a reason that may well be music to the ears of many DSL providers. Similarly, DSL and broadband Internet services continue to grow by the day and improve in order to deliver top-caliber digital access to the Internet and other media.
Time Warner Cable, a division of Time Warner, has reported that there are over 5.2 million people subscribing to their broadband cable services. This tremendous number just goes to show that the company is considered as one of the best innovators in the industry. Apart from this, Time Warner also serves VoIP services to over 1.4 million clients.
Could this mean that Time Warner is well on it's way to the top of the broadband ladder? We remember a few years back, EarthLink had agreed with Time Warner to supply high-speed Internet applications to 20 million customers in the US. Also, we saw Time Warner merge with another giant AOL, one of the biggest merger in corporate history. This only signals that the company as well as its services are going stronger than ever. So much for leveling the playing field.

Digital Subscriber Line remains unchallenged despite competition. It continues to be a promising broadband technology that people will use in the future generations to come. It has changed the face of Internet application and will continue to reign as long as people will stick out with it. But the big question is: can DSL survive more than it should?
In terms of competition, cable internet seems to be the biggest rival in the market. However, I believe that both technologies can co-exist. It's more harmonized than ever because people get the best of both worlds. People choose cable internet because it's a cheaper alternative. On the other hand, some people use DSL because of its high speed connection. The lopsidedness of cable internet also in effect entices people to switch to DSL.
DSL proves particularly useful for businesses which rely so much on the internet to back their systems and applications up. In addition, you don't usually see cable networks in business areas due to the reason that they create a lot of clutter. Only DSL can provide a dedicated line; where you can use your internet in private. It is stable and is rarely delayed. For most part, DSL continues to surge. A point in fact is the rise of the number of DSL providers here and abroad.

Did you ever wonder why fiber cables are better than copper cables in terms of data speed transmission? But first we have to know what fiber optics is. Fiber optics is the process of internal reflection of light through rods in a contained material which is usually glass or plastic. It is commonly used in the transmission of voice, data and images in lightning-fast speeds and is preferred over the conventional copper wires because it rarely experience signal loss.
Over and above this, fiber cables also extend other benefits in its application. In terms of speed, fiber transmission is close to the speed of light. Compared to an ordinary dial-up, fiber allows at least 2,000 times faster data transmission and 100 times faster than cable modem. This spells faster internet connection. In addition, fiber cables support the transmission of voice, data and images while cable modem, DSL and dial-up allows only data transmission.
Cost effective is also another facet of using fiber over ordinary copper cable. Likewise, fiber technology is capable to support the needs of the future unlike cable modem and DSL connection which may be likely replaced to suit the changes in technology.

The most important phenomenon that caused great impact to telecommunications with regard the Internet is the DSL or digital subscriber line. With a DSL Internet connection you are assured of fast and uninterruptible internet browsing that is a lot better that a dial-up. However, the convergence of fast internet in our personal computers made some of us pay an expensive price. Because downloading and uploading of pages comes in a fast speed, there is a lot of information or data that we are able to retrieve. Some even go to the extent of addiction with the internet that they sometimes compromise the more important things.
Teenagers are very exposed to the internet. They are probably more aware of what's the latest buzz about computer games or even pornographic websites than most of us adults. And this is all because of a fast internet connection. Imagine if the DSL speed is a bit slower.
Kids would only use their internet connection to research on worthwhile topics for a school project or communicate with a loved one abroad instead of just wasting time looking at obscene sites. Besides this negative effect, kids who are addicted with the internet also experience health problems such as obesity because they are glued in their computer for hours without engaging in outdoor activities or probably dulling of eyesight caused by radiation. We might have benefited with a fast internet connection in more ways than one, but we should also be aware of its negative effects.

One way to achieve a high-speed web access is through Digital Subscriber Line. DSL service functions similarly like a dial-up internet service for the mere fact that it uses the same type of telephone wire. Of course, the big difference is that DSL provides a faster and a superior service compared to the access provided by a dial-up.
A slow internet access can be very inconvenient most of the time. This is true especially if you are rushing a work, which requires you to download materials from the web. Well, probably it's time for you to switch your current internet connection to DSL.
There are four primary requirements that you must meet in order avail DSL service namely: phone connection, DSL modem, Ethernet card, and DSL service provided by a telephone company.
You must take note that the distance of the DSL provider from your home also affects the quality of your connection. Subscribing to a company nearest your home then is important. You may check the online directory of DSL providers in order to see which company is operating within your area. In choosing the right DSL internet connection, you must always consider the package, the price, and the customer support provided by a company.

Most computer users today are shifting to broadband connections. Their shift to broadband is mainly due to broadband's fast and efficient performance. Additional expenses in installing broadband connections are all worth it, considering the benefits you will receive in maximizing the Internet resources.
If you are considering DSL connection, you should consider the best option for your computer and avoid Internet service providers that may just give more problems than solution. Some of the recently DSL providers with negative reports from subscribers are Earthlink, Partnership Wireless, XMission and Patriot Media. You should check out broadband reports before choosing a DSL provider.
