High-speed DSL Internet is popularly used among homes and businesses today. Its high speed ensures information to be sent in an instant, allowing efficient information exchange and productivity.
Technology behind DSL Internet
DSL stands for a digital subscriber line. Instead of using the one line from a telephone (as seen in dial up Internet), DSL sends digital instead of analog data through the telephone line. Since the frequencies sent through the lines are limited, the telephone system can compact several wires into the limited space. There no need to worry about interference. That’s why you can use your telephone while still on DSL Internet. DSL services usually have a download speed between 384 kbit/s and 20Mbit/s.
Cable vs DSL
If we’re talking about price, cable Internet is much cheaper than DSL. Cable net costs around $40 to $45 a month while DSL is usually $50. In terms of installation, DSL is much faster and easier. All it requires is a phone jack near your computer or a wireless router. Both DSL and cable have efficient traffic and exchange performances. Higher speeds are found in DSL if you live near the company’s office while cable’s speeds are consistent with each user.
Start asking around for DSL service information around your area. Refer to a variety of providers to ensure you get the price and services. Ask your friends as well which provider suits them best. You can also refer to reviews on cable and DSL Internet providers to pick the right choice. Both are tied in terms of services so look at their differences to know which you prefer.

DSL and wireless modems are two ways to access the Internet. Both can be found in portables and personal computers.
Key features of DSL modems
DSL modems are used to connect a computer or a router to a DSL line. Common features include ADSL2 and ADS2+ support, router functionality, a built-in switch, a DHCP server, and voice over IP functionality.
Key features of wireless modems
Wireless modems can provide Internet connections over Wifi hotspots without the need for cables. They are typically found incorporated in laptops. Wireless modems come in various modem speeds, protocols supported, either Ethernet, CPCD, GPRS, EVDO, or Wifi, frequency band, radio technique, and maximum signal strength.
Choosing one that's right for your needs
Most laptops are now configured to get Internet access through DSL and wireless modems so it doesn’t really matter which of these you choose. If you are thinking about getting Internet connection around your home, you can access the Internet through DSL and have wireless access throughout your home with a wireless router.

For these past weeks I couldn't do my new research projects because my modem got destroyed. I did not know the reason it's not working. It just suddenly didn't function. I couldn't connect to the Internet so I had to postpone all my pending projects. It was really a hard life with a non-working modem. My Internet life was also struggling and my friends have been telling me to check my email. But, what could I do? I had no working modem.

So, I bought a Fujitsu Speedport DSL modem from my favorite gadget store. I'm their favorite customer, too, so they gave me a discount. I got it for only $35. It's real price is $39.99 but well, charm can do anything. Anyway, my new DSL modem is faster and much better. It connects on the Internet faster than my last modem and it allows me to do my projects quickly. So, if you're choosing a DSL modem choose Fujitsu Speedport FC9660RA14 Verizon.

Choosing is a hard task because it's confusing. Choosing gives me headache sometimes. But, if you're planning to buy a gadget or device you must choose wisely so to avoid experiencing buyer's remorse and regrets as well. If looking for a modem, choose only the version that would fit your computer. Ensure that it's functional and fast enough to provide you more productivity with your work. You don't have to travel as far as the city of London or Brussels just to search for the right modem. You just have to be smart enough to pick your choice.

DSL or digital subscriber line is a computer technology that brings high-bandwidth information to homes and small-medium businesses via common copper telephone lines. We've been using DSL for years now and almost every user has experienced numerous problems with this Internet connection.
Calling the technical support department of your DSL provider can be the cause of your heart attack due to the long queue, and all you can hear on the other line is the buzzing and hissing of wires.

The common problem with a DSL line is the modem which malfunctions everytime you're rushing an important report. At first, your modem looks normal and innocent, giving you the impression that it is still doing its job. But the truth is, your poor modem can no longer transmit nor receive any digital information. The problem with these modems have different reasons, like it needs replacement, attacks of hackers, or it's just faulty.

Regardless of the reason of the problem, the best thing that you can do is to ask a network administrator to fix the problem for you. You can check the Internet, (you can rent a computer in a nearby Internet cafe), for phone numbers of nearby network specialists. If you are going to install a new modem, make sure that it is far from any electrical transformer to avoid transmission which weakens your modem.

I hate everything about DSL. I abhor the shitty connection, the absurd performance, and the hellish gadgets that you have to buy to experience a nightmare of Internet surfing. Broadband is a hell lot better than DSL. I think I've told you that before, right? But you're natural idiots! As a matter of fact, your incurable idiocy pisses me off, and it makes me wanna whack a cactus at your ugly faces.
TRENDnet\u2019s TW100-S4W1CA DSL/Cable Broadband Router with 4-Port Switch is a tool used by morons with moth-eaten brains to connect to the web. If you're not a member of the moronic society, then don't use this product, or else. The product claims that it can provide an easy, quick, and safe Internet connection. It's NAT feature serves as a firewall security system that can block all the malicious files that want to enter your system. Better not believe in its claims or you'll get yourself with brain damage. Not from the product, but from me.
Manufacturers of this tool are worthless pile of cow dung. You see, they make people believe that their products are worth buying. Gullible consumers eat every advertisement about the Internet, only to realize that they're burning their credit cards to ashes. DSL and TRENDnet make my royal blood boil.

Today's consumers wanted accessibility of functions in a single device. They often settle for products that offer not just a single purpose but the capability to do other tasks. A good example is a modem-router that also acts as an access point and a gateway just like the new Home Hub from Motorola. This scheme eliminates the need for other devices and is therefore more cost-efficient.
The first entry of Motorola into the home networks market came with the Home Hub 1620 DSL home gateway. First unveiled in the Global Comm exposition in Chicago last June 4-8, the HH1620 combines an ADSL2+ modem, a wireless gateway, a four-port router, and a VOIP ATA (analog telephone adapter) in one compact device. It makes possible to access internet, voice data and other functionality. The device also uses the TR-069 which allows modem users to troubleshoot the device in their home Local Area Network.
It highlights a powerful combination of features including advanced security and convenient and easy installation. The combination of a modem, gateway, router and VOIP ATA allows consumers to run their home networks both on wired and wireless mode. It makes use of industry standard SIP signaling protocols that offer an all-in solution to connect to high speed Internet.

Compex was born in 1987 after a group of 4 partners came together with microcomputer design experience and found this networking company. The company dedicates itself to pumping out networking hardware which specializes on the needs of the consumer. Compex are known for producing top-quality broadband routers, which they classify into two. They have the NetPassage series and the simple 'Passage' series. The NetPassage 15B is a Cable/DSL Router with built-in 4-port 10/100 MBps switch and Parallel Broadband capability. The router is smaller and thinner than most of you may expect. The Parallel Broadband feature allows you to hook up other NetPassage routers to each other to perform a load balancing scheme to use on highly bandwidth intensive networks.
The unit has an internal clock which you will find very useful in setting time limits of the time of day when LAN clients can access the Internet. Either the HTML browser based interface or via telnet makes the configuration a piece of cake. The HTML based interface already has all the needed configuration features with the added bonus of being intuitive and completely user friendly, so the unit no longer needs a console port. This Compex router comes with a built in hardware Firewall, and Port Forwarding capabilities which will handle all your needs as to what ports need to be forwarded.

Netopia, an Emeryville-based leading manufacturer of broadband equipment, software, and services, has taken off the wraps from their new product – the Netopia ADSL2 Pocket Modem. It's a very small modem that converts your internet dial-up connection into DSL in a snap without the need for any enigmatic installation process sans the CD. I am sure any person without the familiarity of modem and internet connection would be able to figure this matter out.
This innovative plug-and-play solution is as easy as plugging the modem into the computer's USB port. The computer recognizes the modem easily, reconfigures your IE browser settings and your own your way to access high-speed broadband internet. It does away with the long-winded process of installing. It is this complexity that acts as a barrier for people to remain loyal to their dial-up connection rather than switch to a faster broadband internet. According to a statistics by the US Government Accounting Office, half of the approximate number, or 30 million Americans with internet connection, are still into dial-up despite slashed DSL rates. Another feature is that it doesn't need external power as it relies on the power of your computer. It comes equipped with a firewall for added security.

I hate to admit this: I've worn out a modem quite several times. But it's not due to failure to operate. I just love to upgrade it. Then came the realization that I'm wasting a lot of money for modems but never know whether the modem itself needs to be upgraded. A lot of internet users are faced with the same situation. When is the right time to change or upgrade modems? Are they even upgradable in the first place? These and all the other underlying questions are dealt with in this article.
The general rule is that (and it's not merely my theory) when your modem finally gave up working properly, that's the only time that you'll have to change it. Modems, like any other piece of electronic equipment, rely very much on a good environment (stuff like ventilation, dust proof, etc.).
If one day your modem just stopped functioning, maybe it's the sign you've been waiting for. It has to go. If you bought a new modem for replacement, don't expect that it will also upgrade your DSL speed. If you're on dial-up don't expect to upgrade to broadband when you have upgraded your modem. Also, you may want to consult your Internet Service Provider before choosing for a modem to buy. That way you'll know whether it's compatible.

What propels your Internet connection to work just the way it should? Through a modem you can connect your computer to the exciting world of Internet. Using a DSL modem, you can boost your Internet speed using just your ordinary phone line. Trouble whether what modem to use? There are gazillion modems in the market to choose from, but to single out the best is not my job but I'm hoping you'll be able to appreciate my suggestion here.
Siemens has come up with the Gigaset VDSL2 modem that allows you to connect to the Internet to enjoy multimedia services (video, data and voice) at the same time keep connected with the rest of the world. The modem is packed with nifty features which makes it a great purchase. It has an Ethernet port, 100 Mb per second data transfer and with its plug-and-play design, you can install and lodge the whole thing conveniently.
With the increased amplitude to dish out services from the Internet, end-users will find this modem very helpful to beef up their productivity whether its for business or pleasure.

Are you thinking of switching to a broadband internet service? If so then better get a DSL modem. The function of the modem is to separate your Internet connection from a primary connection such as your phone or TV line.
This way, the internet data goes directly to your computer which makes internet surfing twice as fast as cable internet or dial-up or maybe faster. In addition to the modem, you can also connect an internet router so that you can share your internet connection to other computers in your home.
Some modems include installation kits with them. But if you're very lucky your internet service provider may also provide you with a modem free of charge and install them for free too. Otherwise, you would have to install it yourself.
Be sure that the primary components of the installation kit are complete. There should be a modem, a special telephone line cord, an Ethernet cable, special micro filters, and a two-outlet modular adapter. When you have them all ready, you're all set to start installing. Just don't forget your installation guide to make installation dead easy.

Internet is probably the best thing that ever happened to a personal computer. It allows one to gather all the information that one needs in school, business or work. I cannot imagine life without the internet. And the best thing about the internet is an internet modem. A DSL modem allows you to share a single internet connection with several computer units. This is good because it is cost-effective and at the same time you can still talk on the phone even when you are online.
The Zoom ADSL X6 DSL modem is the best solution for your internet sharing problems. The modem provides a secure access of the internet. The convenience in using the modem cannot be matched by any other modem in the market. Installing the modem will never be a problem because the set-up is very easy and does not require a software to install. The modem comes with a wireless router. This router allows wireless networking with computers or laptops. It also has a built-in Ethernet switch that allows you easy access of the internet. It is compatible with most DSL services around.

I have always wondered how you can do private internet browsing when you're using public computers. Many hackers and opportunists thrive on public internet usage. Well, what if I really need to use the public internet? Would it be safe enough to deploy private messages? If I want to use the P2P program, would a public computer secure all my files?
It's a good thing that many reliable internet cafes have installed security in their full-time cable modems. It is said that security on full-time cable modems or DSL are better than having temporary dial-up connection. You may think that a temporary dial-up connection would do the trick of securing your internet usage, but really, a secured full-time cable modem is the way to go. Many reports have been filed against wireless networking. Many problems face this type of internet usage. Sometimes, it's better to stick on the traditional process. It may not be too techy or modern, but, you're guaranteed safety and protection when you need it. You can download your personal files on the computer without having to worry about hackers and dishonest people in the internet world. You just have to make sure that you're using a security-protected cable modem or DSL, and you'll be fine.

Most Internet users today are now shifting to broadband connections. There is one great advantage of broadband. That is speed. Speed translates to efficiency in production as well as less frustrations.
Most telephone companies offer direct subscriber line or DSL service. These companies may also include in their service package a DSL modem for your computer. There are, however, cases wherein you may need to configure your DSL model to function properly. Some problems may arise especially if the operating system does not support the modem configuration.

The Internet is like a vast library that can be accessed by almost every one. But, unlike an ordinary library, the Internet is not a physical place or is located in one single area. The Internet is a global library with many digital shelves that can only be accessed through the electronic window of computers.
Computers, on the other hand, cannot be connected to the world-wide web without modems that will translate analog packets of data into digital and vice-versa. Modems may come in different models, but one of the most efficient modem is DSL connection that can be installed by an Internet service provider which is also the telephone company where the modem line is connected.

First define whether you would be using a residential or a business type of connection. Will you be using only a single PC or several? The speed of your internet connection may also depend on how many people are going to share the DSL connection.
SpeedTouch DSL provides a choice of DSL modems that fit into your PC connection scheme. Some modems actually depend on the service provider and the region where satellites are set up. But with SpeedTouch DSL, you don't have to worry about it because it is independently set up. It reaches up to roughly 640 to 832 kb/s on the upstream. Think it's fast enough? SpeedTouch DSL residential-type modems even work for small businesses, so it's really versatile.

At times, it can quite hard and frustrating to connect to your internet server. One probable reason for this is the speed, which is usually slow. For this reason, loading websites, downloading, uploading, and saving images can also be slow. But now, this problem can be solved when you get a DSL internet connection.
The DSL connection is one of the latest and fastest internet connections. Unlike other connections that use an ordinary modem, the DSL or the digital subscriber line uses a cable modem. With this, there is no more need to use phone lines.
