A good deal is something like buying a grass skirt that is packaged with a string of lei for free. On more modern matters, it's buying a personal digital assistant with free Bluetooth headphones. On the other hand, we can also describe a good deal as buying a word processing software that has an MP3 organizer as a freeware. But installing a Windows operating system with multitude of viruses for free is definitely not a good deal.

Even providers of dial-up Internet connection give their customers freebies to make sure that the users will still patronize their products. SBC Yahoo, provider of DSL connection is continuously giving out free firewall security systems and other security suites to their loyal subscribers. The provider wanted to make sure that users will enjoy safe and unlimited Internet access. Virus and spyware blockers and filters are integrated in the service's dashboard.

This endeavor by the Internet provider is their measure to stop computer abuses from wreaking more havoc and distress. Virus writers and spyware authors are becoming more criminal in nature. I think this offer by Yahoo is an opportunity for consumers to shoot two birds with one stone. "You can use our Internet service, and we protect your machines," that's what Yahoo is thinking. For me, it's like visiting Italy and taking a Swiss guard on your return trip.

A few days ago, I was rushing to beat the deadline of my research about European cultures. So I ran to a nearby internet cafe in order to get the sources I needed before I could start working on my computer. To my big disappointment, I found myself surfing at a cafe with the slowest connection ever. By the way, I think surfing is even a gracious term to use. Waiting, that was exactly what I did at that damn cafe. The whole place was comfortable and the devices were cool. But the poor connection was simply intolerable. In fact, the 30 minutes I spent seated in that cafe was consumed by waiting rather than working. So I decided to leave the shop and look for a better one.
I don't quite understand why there are still internet shops with slow connections. It seems ironic considering the numerous DSL services that offer fast internet connection. Will it kill the owners to spend a few extra dollars in order to have a better and faster internet connection? If they want their business to live, then having a fast internet access should not even be a matter or choice. It is actually imperative. If they argue about cutting their costs and expenses, then we clients also want to save our money and time.

Fine, I now agree that DSL cannot completely beat broadband connection and its speed is quintessentially bullshit. Subscribers to DSL are already switching to broadband right after they realize that they've been sticking with the loser. They also realized such right before I used a sledgehammer to whack their brains. People who are still using DSL should be brought to my office. I'm offering a free counseling about computers and brain surgery as well.
Anyway, my feelings for DSL is as intense as what George Bush is feeling every time he sees Al Gore. Connecting to the Internet through DSL is as fast as a seventy-year old guy's orgasmic process. So don't expect your Toshiba portable laptop to connect to the web faster than a speeding bullshit if you're using DSL. And you hell know that providers of the damned connection are currently suffering from a maelstrom of financial problems because they've lost most of their valuation in the market due to the introduction of broadband. According to the report I've seen in the papers, people behind DSL are busy mending the patches of the connection and addressing technical issues. So unless they'll be able to fixe all the disasters that they've introduced to the gullible public, broadband will still be the first choice when it comes to speedy wireless connection.

Let's admit it, we always have the need for speed. That's why people are having a lot of fun with the adrenaline rush in every activity or sport, whether its race car driving or bungee jumping. How would you like it if that speed keeps up with your broadband service, isn't that a nice thing? Broadband users like me who is always busy in the office have a need for speed. More and more people are making it a criterion in choosing their type of broadband service. And for good reason, it saves us a lot of time and a great deal of money if we rely on fast Internet connection.
The popularity of the Internet as an avenue for people to explore the world depends much on the type of their broadband service. But you can always say," ah there's always DSL." But don't you think DSL is not keeping up? Too early to say at least. For now let's appreciate the fact that broadband offers solution for our thirst for speed. Being up to 40 times faster than dial-up , you're sure that broadband connection is the way to do it. And the last thing that you want to do is wait for web pages to download (that's very irritating), then there's no better service than broadband, at least for now.

Today, almost all industries demand for fast internet connection. In fact, connection to Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) becomes the priority of many companies, particularly those with overseas transactions. Hence, internet providers offer different types of DSL to enjoy speedier access to the net. However, each type has distinctive feature that makes one different from another. Like the Very high bit-rate DSL (VDSL), it's known as the fastest generation of DSL so far.
The birth of VDSL made DSL technology more desirable for subscriber. This very high speed connection provides data transmission up to 52 Mbit/s downstream and 12 Mbit/s upstream over fiber optic cables. Like other DSL, VDSL can perform voice as well as data communication using the same line. As the capacity develops, VDSL can now work on both symmetric and asymmetric modes. It can support high bandwidth applications like high-definition television (HDTV), too.
Due to these features, many companies found this type of DSL more advantageous. However, like other DSL technology, distance is the main concern of VDSL for faster connection. The quality of connection is compromised because of this factor. It works well over a short distance using a standard twisted copper phone wire. Nevertheless, VDSL is still extremely fast internet connection. However, is not widely deployed unlike other types of DSL.

First we had the dialup connection, now we have broadband. These broadband connections (DSL, Cable or Satellite), make dialup connection seem like your grandmom driving a super slow car. Broadband internet services popularity is because of its high bandwidth. The reason a lot of people get broadband is because providers promise a speedy connection.
But how do you know if you are getting your money's worth of broadband service? There are two ways to test your DSL speed. One is manually calculating which you can do yourself without the need of speed test softwares or websites. Connection speed is comprised of upload and download speed, and you can test it by first trying to download any free software from the internet. While doing this, be aware of how long it took to download a specific size of file. After knowing the download speed, try uploading a file with a definite size. Time the whole process and record it. The upload speed is the file size divided by the seconds it took to upload it. Do this a couple of times to get the average.
If you are too lazy to manually check your speed connection yourself, there are websites that offer free speed tests. These sites let you upload and download to their servers (which has installed scripts) a trial file and the outcome can be viewed on their webpage. So don't just settle for the numbers the service providers give you. Run the tests yourself and see if you really are paying for quality amenity.

According to reliable sources, every home in Singapore will get to experience high-speed internet running at speeds of 1 Gbps (Gigabyte per second). But before this could be possible, there has to be a broadband service provider to shell out that kind of internet speed. Prompted by such need, the Singapore government is making sure that it becomes a top priority, as residents and companies become more aware of the benefits of the internet. It is also likely that once the plan pushes through, Singapore will not be left behind in the worldwide broadband race where fast connection plays a key role.
The agency primarily responsible for this proposal is the IDA of Singapore. As of press time, IDA has opened its doors for recommendations and bids from companies which are capable of delivering such services. The government, in addition saw the good side of having fast internet connection like keep connected with families and loved ones, and for businesses to increase their productivity. Likewise, through fast speeds other services like Voice Over Internet Protocol and real-time video conferencing can be delivered anywhere in Singapore.

DSL or digital subscriber line equipment makes use of existing telephone lines to carry multimedia, music and video data, as well as voice services (VoIP) to its customer clients. In a world where everything changes in a span of a millisecond, it's important to do our usual tasks with lightning fast speeds to keep up with transition. All the more so when it comes to the Internet. As a medium of communication a system that lags may not render the services that it is supposed to give when it lacks behind in speed. Most people make use of the Internet passively, in that, they download data from the Internet more than they send to another.
Asymmetric DSL is a form of DSL which provides faster download speed than upload speed. This is particularly useful for Internet users who spend most of their time downloading songs, movies, videos and other Internet data than they may send, this uploading. That is why it is asymmetric. Downloading is much faster compared to a traditional Internet modem connection or a regular DSL. ADSL makes use of ADSL modem that transfers data to your PC.

A fast internet connection can be a good thing for a company or an individual. They rely on the internet to process, retrieve or send information to other people. Businesses move faster, people can send email to keep in touch with their loved ones abroad, or educate themselves with the latest news that matter to their lives.
Even people who use the internet for fun and entertainment to download games, movies, or MP3s would not have to worry about waiting long hours for pages to download. It only goes to show one thing -- we rely on DSL speeds for the basic reason that it can either make or break us.
To test the speed of your internet connections, there are a lot broadband service websites that can help you do just that. Speakeasy Speed Test lets you measure the download and upload rate of your internet connection. Another is the SBC Yahoo! DSL Internet Throughput Test. All you have to do is select your location or area and presto. It will give you results on whether your internet connection is at par or just a humdrum.

We recently subscribed to DSL services and I must say that it really provides fast internet access. Before we opted for DSL, we had a cable internet connection. I don't have any complaints on the cable internet either. But, we just had a DSL offer that's much cheaper so we switched. The point is, should we have stayed with the cable internet because it might be faster? Or, is it a good idea to try out DSL?
Well, technically speaking, both of these internet services provide good access speed, unlike other services, like dial-up or internet cards. So, why else should we compare these two when they both give satisfactory performances? Before DSL companies upgraded their technology, the cable internet modem had a higher level of bandwidth than that of the DSL. Up until now, there are some cable internet services that are faster than DSL services. But, cable internet also slows down when many people use the cable line simultaneously. With DSL, you'll have absolute access to your own internet services. Both of these services also have "speed caps". This means that their bandwidth is limited. Thus, in this area, they perform the same. But, really, there's not much to compare with the two since they both offer efficient internet access to users. It's a win-win situation. It's not so bad to try both and it's not so bad to choose from any of the two.

More and more people nowadays rely on the internet for their business, personal, or office use. The internet is a very useful tool in the areas of communication, education and business. Consequently, one's internet connection has to keep up with the pace of the environment of the user in order to get more efficiency from it.
When it comes to internet connection we often hear the words dial-up and broadband. These are the two types of internet connection according to the speed of data transfer. Dial-up are the most common and the cheapest form of internet connection, on the other hand, a broadband connection is 10 times faster which transfers data at speeds usually more than 200kbps. Broadband compared to dial-up is always on which means it will not stop you from using your telephone line and allows you to share connection with more than one pc. This also means that it can save you a lot of money since you no longer need another phone or another internet connection for a separate pc.
Waiting time for webpages to download can really be a vain for most people. This is primarily the reason why broadband DSL is created.

If you could give monetary value for every second or minute you lost because of slow Internet speed, the amount of money you would be able to collect within a year might be enough to buy another brand new computer. Most computer users rely on the Internet for information and communication related to their daily work tasks.
Users' efficiencies are affected by the speed of their access. This problem, however, is now minimized with the development of DSL modem connections, although not all companies are already DSL subscribers. DSL speed translates to productivity in the work place.

Troubled that your DSL or cable connection isn't running fast enough? Perhaps a reliable speed test can help you. Internet speed tests are used by many internet users to make sure that the technology and the internet technology that they are using are not fooling them. Some hardware actually slows down internet speed. Some broadband tests require Java software so you might also try to install it.
You can check out AuditMyPc to find out whether your internet speed is at par or a slowpoke. It provides a chart where you can track your broadband speed as well as further information on how to increase the speed of your broadband internet.

The first thing that comes to mind when we hear of DSL is "fast." Ultimately, people who have been accessing the Internet via DSL connection are getting the best of all worlds: they can work while videoconferencing, download movies, games and other shareware, or simply do tasks that require a great deal of multi-tasking.
The latest news in the DSL industry is always geared towards the bright future of DSL. Being a new technology in itself, DSL still grows and reaches new places each day. In Europe, Canada, the United States, and Asia, more and more telephone companies are announcing rollouts for DSL expansion. This is a sure sign that despite the competition, DSL still stands high on the internet access preference of many users.

Sometimes it could be truly frustrating if you are on a deadline and your Internet connection is not cooperating. A lot of valuable productive time is wasted. You may spend your time cursing and infuriated while waiting for the web resource to download. This is especially true in dial-up and other non-broadband connections.
The internet connection speed is measured in terms of bits per second. DSL or direct line subscriber can process information much faster. The speed of DSL connection can be tested by measuring the bandwidth. Speed may also depend on the modem and router configuration.

The internet provides a whole new world of adventure and learning. Internet is for everything - business, work, education, leisure, and entertainment.
Easy access and fast downloads give the best internet experience. No one of course would want to spend a long time waiting for a file to download. That would be a waste of time and money.
Broadband DSL is a good option for those who are seeking for fast and convenient internet access. With its high speed and quality service, Broadband DSL provides more convenience and adventure.

When a person wants to have an internet access at home, his usual dilemma centers on whether he or she should get a DSL or dial-up internet access. Both have its pros and cons. DSL access is faster and more reliable, but it can be more expensive. Not all families may be able to afford it. The dial-up access is cheaper, but it can be slow at times.
If a person's lifeblood is the computer and the internet, then he or she should get the DSL connection. Furthermore, he or she should also get the DSL speed to maximize the speedy internet connection.
Tuesday, October 24. 2006
The speed of DSL depends on the service providers as well as on the proximity of the subscriber to the central DSL service provider. With DSL, computer network access is supposed to be fast and efficient. However, traffic jams in the web are sometimes inevitable, especially when there are multiple users trying to access the same web resource. The speed of DSL connection may also be affected by your modem configuration, hardware and software specification. There are, however, software that are available to aid the uploading and downloading capacity of DSL connection. One such software is tacitly named DSL Speed.
